Your video appointment

Our video appointments are available to patients whose doctor or nurse has recommended them for this type of appointment. You will get the same high standard of clinical care, while saving time and avoiding parking and travel issues.

We use NHS Attend Anywhere for our video appointments, a confidential national service.

For your video appointment, you’ll need:

  • A desktop computer, laptop, smartphone or tablet - make sure that it has a camera, microphone and speakers or headphones.
  • A reliable connection to the internet. A good way of testing this is to watch a video online using, for example, YouTube.
  • A Google Chrome or Microsoft Edge web browser, for Windows or Android devices. For Apple devices, you’ll need the Safari browser.
  • A private, well-lit space where you can hold your video consultation without being disturbed.
  • TO check your equipment is working. You can do this by INSERT TEST LINK.

How video appointments work

  1. We’ll send you details of your appointment date and time in your appointment letter.
  2. Five minutes before your appointment is due to start, join your Attend Anywhere appointment.  start call button below.
  3. The system will run through some checks, such as connection speed and microphone checks. You will be asked for your name, phone number and date of birth.
  4. You will then go into the video room, where you wait for your clinician to join you for your appointment, which will then go ahead as normal.
  5. When your appointment has finished, use the end button at the top of your screen.

Support during your appointment

You're welcome to have someone with you, such as a carer, family member or friend.

If you have any accessibility, communication or cultural needs, please let the service know before your appointment. We can arrange interpreters for language, British Sign Language, combined sight and hearing loss, lip speaking, and other communication needs - please give us at least 10 days' notice so we can make the necessary arrangements.

Having problems?

  • Visit the Attend Anywhere website for troubleshooting advice (opens in new window).
  • If you have any connection problems, simply click the refresh button at the top of the screen. This restarts the call exactly where you left it.
  • If we are unable to have your video call for any reason - including internet connection issues - we will call you on the number on your patient record. Please make sure your contact detail that we have are up to with at the time of your appointment.
