On the day of your procedure

We'll guide you through what to expect when you arrive at the hospital and what happens before, during, and after your treatment or surgery. This will help you feel prepared and know what to expect at each stage of your visit.

Arriving at Hospital

Friends and loved ones are welcome to drop you at the hospital, but please be aware we do not have facilities for them to stay.

  • Drop-off zones:  use the designated patient drop-off areas near the main entrance. Your driver will not need to pay for parking if they are in and out of the car park within 20 minutes.
  • Parking:  If your driver needs to park, they can use the on-site patient parking (charges apply).
  • Accessibility:  Blue Badge holders are entitled to free parking. Find out more on our Blue Badge parking page.

Overnight patients

If you are staying overnight or are transferred to a ward after your procedure, normal visiting hours will apply. You can find these on our  visiting information page.

Day patients

If you are having a day procedure we’ll inform your nominated contact when you are ready to go home.

Remember

  • Important documents: Bring your admission letter, and any other information we may have sent you. Check out our what to pack page for more information about what to bring.
  • Nominated and alternative contact: Make sure we have the current contact details for the person collecting you, plus an alternative contact number.
  • We’ll keep your contact updated: We’ll call them when you’re ready for discharge or if there are any changes.

Where to go

Operations take place at the below locations within our Guildford hospital. We've added What Three Words and a Google dropped pin location to help you find these once you are on our site. You can find information about how to get to our Guidlford site on our Getting here webpage.

Consent

You may be having an operation or treatment or investigation that requires you to sign a consent form.

Before signing, the doctor will explain what is going to happen.

Remember to ask questions if you are not sure or do not understand.
