Royal Surrey showcases Haslemere Hospital transformation at Charter Fair

Residents in Haslemere learned more about plans to transform Haslemere Hospital into a neighbourhood health hub at the Haslemere Charter Fair held on Bank Holiday Monday, 4 May.

Representatives from Royal Surrey NHS Foundation Trust, including Angela Davies, Associate Director of Operations for Adult Community Health Services, and Charlotte Morley, Clinical Transformation Lead (Haslemere) spoke with residents about the hospital’s transformation programme and the rollout of neighbourhood healthcare services, including the new long-term conditions hub due to launch in summer 2026.

The project supports the ambitions of the NHS 10-Year Plan to provide more care closer to home. Royal Surrey has secured £1 million in capital funding to refurbish former ward space at Haslemere Hospital, creating new spaces to support additional outpatient and day-care facilities.

Angela Davies said: “It was fantastic to speak directly with Haslemere residents and share our plans with them. Their insight and enthusiasm are helping shape the future of the hospital, ensuring the services we develop genuinely reflect the needs of the community.”

The Trust has worked closely with partners including the Haslemere Hospital League of Friends, represented at the fair by Chair Rose Parry, who spoke with visitors about the hospital and the benefits of joining the League of Friends.

Royal Surrey Staff Governor and Haslemere resident Bob Monteath also attended, speaking with residents about the role governors play in representing the views of local communities at Board level, while encouraging people to become members and help shape the future of local NHS services.
