Social media moderation guidelines

The following moderation guidelines relate to Royal Surrey.

Behaviour online

We actively encourage our followers to engage with the content we share on our channels. This includes liking, commenting and sharing our posts.

However, we expect our followers to engage with our content in a safe and respectful manner. On rare occasions, we ‘hide’, remove and/or report inappropriate content posted by other users, in line with our social media policy.

Inappropriate content could include, but is not limited to:

  • Abusive, threatening or hurtful comments.
  • Harassment.
  • Hate speech.
  • Offensive language, including swearing or personal insults.
  • Spam.
  • Commercial posts.
  • Comments which are off topic.
  • Personal or organisational attacks, threats or defamatory comments.
  • Persistent or repetitive negative messages, such as comments that are intended to provoke a reaction and don't contribute to the conversation.
  • Tagging an account repeatedly in a hostile way.

We reserve the right to ban or block users from any social media page if they post inappropriate content.

By submitting content to any Royal Surrey social media pages (wall posts, comments, photos, links, etc.), you understand that this information is publicly available, and that Royal Surrey may use this information in internal and external publications and other communications.
