Resident doctors' strike – 25-30 July 2025

The British Medical Association (BMA) has announced that they are asking resident doctors to take strike action from 7am on Friday 25 July until 7am on Wednesday 30 July.

Patient safety remains our absolute priority. We have robust plans in place to make sure our patients continue to receive safe, quality care throughout this period, with consultant cover across all our hospitals and full nursing and allied health professional support.

If you have an appointment or procedure with us

Please attend your planned appointment or procedure unless we contact you directly. We will only reschedule appointments where absolutely necessary and will notify you in advance if this affects you.

Please do not call to check – this helps keep our phone lines free for urgent matters.

If you are staying on one of our wards

If you or a loved one is currently in hospital, rest assured that safe, quality care will continue without interruption. Our experienced consultant teams and nursing staff will maintain full coverage across all wards.

Urgent care needs: getting the right care in the right place

Life-threatening emergencies

Call 999 or go straight to the Emergency Department for serious, life-threatening conditions – our Emergency Department will be fully operational.

Urgent but non-emergency care

Choose the most appropriate service for faster treatment:

  • Your GP practice – for urgent health concerns.
  • Local pharmacies – for minor ailments and health advice.
  • NHS 111 (call or online) – for guidance on the best service for your needs.
  • Urgent care centres, walk-in centres or our Minor Injuries Unit in Haslemere.

What to expect at our Emergency Department

Our Emergency Department will be busier than usual. We prioritise patients by clinical urgency, so non-urgent cases may experience longer waits. Using an alternative service where appropriate will get you seen faster.

Haslemere Minor Injuries Unit (MIU) – Open Throughout the Strike

No appointment needed | open 8am-5pm, seven days a week.

We can treat:

  • Cuts, bruises, grazes and minor burns
  • Suspected fractures, sprains and strains
  • Minor eye and head injuries (without loss of consciousness)
  • Removal of splinters and foreign objects from ears, eyes or nose
  • Bites and stings

Find your nearest alternative services: Visit our Haslemere MIU webpage for more information about this walk-in service or use NHS 111 to find out the best place for your care needs.

We appreciate your understanding and patience during this time. Our teams remain committed to providing you with safe, compassionate care.
