The Frailty team at Royal Surrey NHS Foundation Trust has been shortlisted for five prestigious national awards - including three that specifically recognise their commitment to improving patient safety.

Following rigorous judging processes by panels of esteemed healthcare leaders, the team has been named finalist in three HSJ Patient Safety Awards and the two Royal College of Physicians Excellence in Patient Care Awards

Next month, they will travel to Liverpool for the Royal College of Physician Awards, where they are in the final three for both the Service Improvement and Medical Education categories. These nominations recognises their work in establishing a frailty crisis pathway and creating The Frailty Academy.

Then in September, the team will head to Manchester for the Health Service Journal Patient Safety Awards. They are shortlisted for the Education and Training Award, Improving Care of Older People Initiative of the Year and the Community Care Initiative of the Year for transforming community care. These nominations recognise their work in establishing a frailty crisis pathway and The Frailty Academy and improving community care.

James Adams, Clinical Director for Integrated Frailty Services said: “Being named a finalist for five different awards is a testament to the hard work and dedication of our team.

“Patient Safety is always at the heart of everything we do, so we are particularly proud to be recognised for going above and beyond to protect our patients from harm, reduce risk and embed a culture of safety at this national level.”
