More than 400 activity packs have been donated by Electronic Arts (EA) Guildford to support patients with dementia and mental health needs.
Through Royal Surrey Charity, a total of 460 packs, including colouring books, pencils, word searches, whiteboards and pens, have been gifted to the Trust for the second year running.
The packs aim to help patients relax and ease worries during their hospital stay.
Anthony Gartland, Head of Nursing for Mental Health, said: “When patients have extended stays in hospital, they have a lot of time to think. They often miss home, their routines, and the people around them, including family and carers. If they’re unable to make certain decisions for themselves, they can feel lost and helpless.
“The activity packs help them express their creativity and give them something meaningful to do, rather than just sitting and waiting.
“For those with mental health conditions, it can be difficult to talk about what they’re going through, but they will often engage in something artistic. We aim to make their stay as calm and stress-free as possible.
“We’d like to say a big thank you to EA for donating these packs and helping make life a little easier and more enjoyable for our patients.”
Angelli Hinampas, Dementia and Delirium CNS, said: “For patients living with dementia, these packs provide comfort and a sense of familiarity during what can be a confusing and stressful time.
“They help spark memories and engagement through simple, creative activities like colouring or word searches, and offer reassurance and calm, helping to reduce anxiety while giving patients meaningful ways to occupy their time.”
