Congratulations to our Group Director of Strategy, Chris Attoe, who has been appointed an Honorary Professor at the University of Surrey’s School of Medicine.

The position reflects his contribution to strengthening the partnership between the University and both Royal Surrey and Ashford and St Peter’s Hospitals, particularly in advancing collaboration across clinical practice, research and education.

In his new role with the School of Medicine, Chris will support joint initiatives and further deepen the strategic relationship between our organisations. He has recently supported joint grant applications, the development of shared governance and collaboration forums, and hopes to establish a shared research office to enhance joint working.

Chris joined Royal Surrey in October 2024 and Ashford and St Peter’s Hospitals in June 2025, having previously held senior strategy positions at the Royal Free London and South London & Maudsley NHS Foundation Trust. He has spent most of his career in the NHS, initially working as a psychologist in general hospital settings before moving into senior management roles leading commercial, workforce, organisational development and research programmes locally, regionally and nationally.

Chris said: “I am honoured to receive this appointment. The relationship between our Trusts and the University is a vital driver of innovation, workforce development and high‑quality research. I look forward to deepening our collaboration and supporting joint programmes that will have a direct benefit to our patients and staff.”
