Congratulations to Dr TP Chua, a Consultant Cardiologist at Royal Surrey, who was shortlisted as one of the top four cardiology trainers in London and the South East.

Cardiology trainees from across the region completed the British Junior Cardiology Association’s annual survey, highlighting excellent trainers in their field.

The glowing nomination for Dr Chua, submitted by a trainee, said: “Dr Chua is an excellent consultant. He always has time to train his trainees. He is always caring for his patients and willing to support trainees out of hours.”

Dr Chua, who has worked in interventional and general cardiology at Royal Surrey since 1999, said: “I’m pleasantly surprised to be nominated. I like to inspire my trainees and I enjoy teaching and disseminating information.

“The nomination is a plus for Royal Surrey too. It reflects well on our trust as it shows that trainees are getting excellent experience and having good rotations while they are with us.

“I can remember as a trainee myself how much I appreciated good mentorship and in return, I’m keen to help our new trainees.”

The British Junior Cardiology Association has carried out an annual survey of cardiology trainees for the last 15 years to provide data on training environment and opportunities to improve trainee experience.
