Guildford Borough Council - Cllr Honor Brooker

My husband Philip and I have been married for over forty years and have lived in Guildford since 1983. I have four children and five grandchildren.

My first career I flew as a stewardess rising to a purser with British Airways (BA). After leaving BA, I spent a few years being a mum and housewife before training at the University of Surrey to become a registered nurse. I started my nursing career at the Royal Surrey in 2002 working on a surgical ward before transferring to the Intensive Care Unit (ICU). I remained here ending my career as ICU Audit Nurse in 2023. I was also the Chair for the Organ Donation Committee from 2016 to 2023.

Just before I retired, I was elected as a Guildford Borough Councillor for Worplesdon. The first year in office I was the Older Person’s Champion, and I have been on the Overview and Scrutiny Committee since I was elected. I really enjoy my work as a Councillor regularly attending the Parish Council and the two Resident Association meetings held monthly, plus the different forums, fetes and shows in the Worplesdon Borough.

I have several hobbies; I am a member of the ICU book club; I enjoy gardening and crafts like knitting plus I sing with the Royal Surrey Choir and have been a member since its inception in 2015.
