Congratulations to the joint winners of our Christmas decorations competition, Onslow and Albury.
The themes behind Onslow and Albury’s ward decorations melted the hearts of the judges and put them top of the tree this year.
Staff on Onslow created a magical ‘Lapland’ in Guildford, inspired by the wishes of an end-of-life patient on the ward who loved the place so much.
On Albury, where staff care for respiratory patients, colleagues ‘elf-ortlessly’ clever decorations showed the patient’s journey from admission to discharge led by – you’ve guessed it, an elf!
Our children’s ward, Hascombe, took our judges under the sea with an aquatic festive theme. Water great idea! They were awarded second place for their gill-iant efforts.
Milford sleighed the competition among the community hospitals, and Ewhurst won special recognition for their tree-mendous efforts.
The judges of the competition included Governors Nigel Stapleton and Jenny Partridge, Deputy Director of Nursing and Multidisciplinary Education, Tamsin Enticknap-Green, Professional Director of Nursing and Cancer, Vicki Mumford, and Tracey Taylor, Lead for Patient Experience.
Vicki said: “Each year we are so impressed by the imagination, creativity and care that goes into decorating the wards to make Christmas in hospital jolly for patients. I’d like to thank all those who put in such a huge amount of hard work to do this, it makes a big difference.”
